EDXM Opens Institutional Access to Crypto Derivatives—Here’s Why That’s a Big Deal

EDXM International has officially entered the digital asset space, launching a new perpetual futures exchange designed specifically for institutional investors.

A New Player in the Institutional Crypto Arena

The platform will offer perpetual futures contracts across 44 crypto trading pairs, including popular assets like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and XRP. Backed by a consortium of financial institutions and venture capital firms, EDXM aims to bring robust infrastructure and capital efficiency to the crypto derivatives market.

Smart Collateral Management: A First in Crypto Trading

In a press release shared with Bitcoin.com News, EDXM introduced its Smart Collateral Management (SCM) system. According to the company, SCM allows liquidity providers to simultaneously engage across multiple markets without increasing risk exposure. EDXM says this is the first solution of its kind in the cryptocurrency industry.

Prime Broker and Liquidity Network Integration

To ensure efficient execution and deep liquidity, EDXM launched with a fully integrated network of prime brokers, liquidity providers, and OEMS (Order Execution Management System) partners. These include Amber Group, CoinRoutes, DV Chain, Hidden Road Partners, LTP, and Virtu Financial—all of whom are expected to support seamless platform performance.

Industry Leaders Weigh In

Kal Chan, EDXM’s Managing Director, said the platform addresses key institutional concerns—namely high collateral requirements and low liquidity—which have previously hindered broader adoption. “There’s a strong appetite for digital assets among institutions in the region,” he noted.

Several of EDXM’s partners echoed this sentiment. Virtu Financial’s Brett Fairclough highlighted the platform’s “new benchmark” in capital efficiency through SCM. Jack Yang of LTP emphasized its alignment with their goals for secure, institutional digital asset access. Meanwhile, Hidden Road’s Michael Higgins called it a meaningful development in trading infrastructure.

DV Chain’s Michael Herman described the move as a “major milestone” in market evolution, and CoinRoutes’ Ian Weisberger pointed to the benefits of faster and cheaper execution. Luke Li from Amber Group underlined the importance of having “institutional-grade infrastructure” in a maturing market.

A Glimpse at the Future

With growing interest from traditional financial firms, EDXM’s entry into the crypto derivatives space reflects an evolving trend: institutional crypto is gaining serious momentum. Whether the exchange can carve out significant market share will depend on its ability to maintain deep liquidity and deliver on its promise of capital-efficient trading.
